Creative Children's Portraits with Kaelin
While mostly I'm shooting more typical portraits of people or landscapes for my own enjoyment, I try to set aside time to really do something creative. This particular shot was one that I had been working out in my head for almost two months before I finally got everything together and went to shoot it.
The first attempt was a failure for many reasons, not to mention the model above being stung by a bee before shooting started, which pretty much put a damper on the whole shoot. We waited another week and went to Rotary Park in White Sulphur Springs to shoot this creative portrait. They have a great merry-go-round there that's actually a couple of feet off the ground.
The final result, a blend of two frames - one for the motion of the background and another of our child model - came out nearly identical to what I had in mind. If I were to shoot this again I'd definitely do a few things differently, but I think the results were still stunning.
